Employment indicators provide an early indication of changes in the labour market.
Key facts
Changes in the seasonally adjusted filled jobs for the July 2026 month (compared with the June 2026 month) were:
- all industries – up 0.3 percent (7,746 jobs) to 2.36 million filled jobs
- primary industries – up 0.4 percent (474 jobs)
- goods-producing industries – up 0.4 percent (1,809 jobs)
- service industries – up 0.3 percent (5,292 jobs).
In July 2026, there were 2.34 million actual filled jobs, up 18,033 jobs (0.8 percent), compared with July 2025.
